In my never ending quest to be an organized person, I like to run my farm kitchen like a business. I don’t like running out of supplies and I don’t do well with surprises. I don’t like standing at the stove and think about what’s for supper. I don’t like 18 miles of driving to the nearest mom/pop grocery store. Whoa.. there are a lot of I don’ts here but I can tell you that I do like my excel Inventory Food Planner.
It is what helps keep my homestead kitchen running efficiently. I also use it for Pantry and Household items. I encourage you to print it out, pencil in your needs and then type in your computer and save for future shopping/planning trips

How do you keep your food organized and how do you prepare for shopping? We would love to hear from you! Think about how the shopping habits from our grandparents to today have changed.
As told by Kraig: I think my mom was the first queen of coupons as she used to cut coupons from the fliers, newspapers and magazines. Her friends knew she used a lot of coupons and they would bring them to her also. Her coupons were the shopping list. Whatever was on sale and match a coupon is what she would buy. She (Janet) did not have a drivers license. (not because of her health but she never learned to drive) Mom relied heavily on being able to walk to the local store and get her stuff almost every other day. Sometimes her friends or dad would pick her up or she would ride the city bus. Keep in mind that our hometown was only about 3000 people. The once a month trips were to the big box stores that would double up on coupons. She would try to buy as much as she could this way and still make it last as long as possible with three growing boys.
This is something I definitely need to keep the pantry organized and under control. And not loose a jar of pickles in the dark corners 🙂
Awe, yes, I remember those days! I have found it also works well to keep the hubby organized if he has to shop for me because it is all on the list.
This is really handy! I can see myself using this to keep everything in order.
Thank you Christen! I love printing it out once I have the data entered and then take to the store or use it to plan with sales. Have fun with it and make it your own!
