The Mystery Blogger Award

Many of you know that my ‘cohost’ and I (Kraig and Theresa Kellner)spent the majority of our springs, summers, and falls planning, planting, growing, weeding, harvesting, and custom delivers from our 3 acre ‘garden’ called Double K Hobby Farm. It was a community supported agriculture business. One year, we raised enough produce for 50 families and it was crazy busy but very rewarding. The website for Double K Hobby Farm had a very small blog and we did not have the time to manage it because we were doing all the activities that allowed us to have great produce. We have gone through a few life changing events and decided in 2019 that we needed a break from the CSA. My focus shifted to blogging to teach others of living a homestead life and to become self sustainable.

I am very honored to have been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award and very surprised! I am such a newbie in this blogging world! Thank you to Pauline from mamabearOutdoors for this nomination! I recently met her through a few interactions on a piece I was doing for Wildfire Prevention and she was an awesome knowledgeable resource. Ms. Pauline went above and beyond the ‘call of duty’ to help another blogger obtain information.

What is the Mystery Blogger Award?

The Mystery Blogger Award was created by blogger Okota Enigma. According to Enigma, “the ‘Mystery Blogger Award’ is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” If you want to learn more, including why Enigma created the award, check out her original post here.

3 facts about me

  1. I am a fighter and a champion. Let me explain: I am a fraternal twin and was born 2 months premature. I was 2 lbs 14 1/2 ounces and my twin and I were baptized right away as the Drs. thought we would not survive. Thankfully the new state of the art incubators had arrived at the hospital. Remember, this is the late 1960s. My twin and I fought for like like champions. Fast forward to 2016. I was diagnosed with Breast cancer stage 3 and I am fighting like a champion.
  2. My original career goal was to be a journalist. I loved writing for our school newspaper. Oh my gosh, students of today, probably would not know how the newspaper is laid out. I think the more I type, I am dating myself! I also was a candystriper in high school that led to my current career in health care. Yes, candystriper, not candy stripper.
  3. I love creativity! I have way to many hobbies and my blog will show that. I am also left handed so my brain gets to analytical so to keep in balance I have to create. ok. I don’t think that sentence made sense. See what I mean? Yoast SEO would have a field day on this paragraph.

My answers to Ms. Pauline’s questions:

  1. What is your favorite birthday memory? Oh boy, this is a hard one but I would have to say that my baby sister was born on my 8th birthday. My twin and I are born on Dec 1 and we had 2 younger brothers. We wanted a girl and we got one. So now, us three girls celebrate together!
  2. What is one thing that not very many people know about you? If you were to look at my home office, it looks like a pack rat mess, but I know where everything is and it all has a purpose and it is functional to me.
  3. What is your greatest accomplishment? I would say that I raised our two sons to be able to be helpmates to their spouses one day. They can cook, do laundry, change poopy diapers, and be romantics!
  4. Where would you go for your dream vacation and why? Without a doubt, Alaska!! I want to see the majestic mountains and landscapes! Put me in a cabin for a month and I would be in my fifth heaven!
  5. What is your five year goal for your blog? My goal would be to have a diverse group of followers that would benefit from maybe even 1 post that made a positive impact on his or her life.

My favorite blog post

Mamabearoutdoors you ask some thought provoking questions! I think the posts that tend to my favorites are the ones that I had to dig deep in my soul to write. My most current piece is the one that got me out of the slump after my dad passed. It is Purpose and Passion in Life.
